The Annual Fund Raising Day will be on Sunday 1st September. Once again we will be raising funds for the Club and Manorlands; and as well as the Charity Football game, we will be staging a Balloon Race. Tickets for the Race will start to go on sale at the Presentation Events at the end of the season. Further details will follow shortly.
I am sure most of you have made good use of the canteen facilities at some stage this season. Rita has done a fantastic job for us there and the club have benefited greatly from her work.
However, at the moment Rita is working very hard on her own in there and requires some help.
If you would like to help out for a short period of time behind the counter serving in the Tuck Shop whilst waiting for the games to start, we would be most grateful.
Thanks
Four of our Young Leaders have recently taken their first steps on the coaching ladder.
George Brown, Chloe McClaughlin, Ben Wedge and Joe Meegan passed their FA Level 1 coaching course held over the last few weeks at Hipperholme High School.
All four have been helping out with the coaching of the younger age groups for a while now, and all are active members of the County Young Leaders Group headed by Jo De Tute from the County FA.
Well done to all of you.
West Riding County FA held their Annual Community Awards Event this week at Bradford City FC . The event, sponsored by McDonald's, is to recognise and reward the people and organisations driving grassroots football. The Awards are split into eight categories and we are delighted and proud that George Brown was one of the winners in the Football Futures Programme.
George, who is captain of our U/18 Wasps team has played at Oakworth for a number of years, but it is for his volunteer work that he has been recognised. For the last three seasons, George has been helping out with the coaching of the young players at the Club, initially starting with the Soccer Camp group, and now as part of the coaching team with the U/8's.
George has been part of the Football Futures Programme since July 2010, and has become involved in coaching, Club Development and refereeing. Along with the other members of our Young Leaders Team he will shortly be taking his Level 1 coaching Badge and we wish him every success.
We held a successflul 2 day Football Camp this week during Half Term.
Made up mostly from players aged 6-12 years the boys braved icy and windy conditions at Bronte and had a great time playing small sided games and lots of different other football related games.
We finished off on Wednesday with a Mini World Cup and penalty shoot out. All those attending recieved a small Hallowee'n style gift - which was eaten before parents collected them at 3 o'clock.
