The Committee

The grand Opening Day for our new changing facility will be on Sunday 5th September. As usual for our pre season fun day, all teams will invite opposition over for a friendly game, there will be plenty going on for the children such as bouncy castle, jousting games etc. There will be food and refreshments available all day along with an ice cream van, - rain or shine.

Of course we have arranged lots of extra events for the Grand Opening. All the old players from the first two teams to represent the Club have been invited to play in a Charity match to raise funds for the Airedale Breast Cancer Unit, collections will also be taken on the day to raise money for this worthy cause. The "old players" were 10 and 11 when they first played here in 1991 so it will be fantastic to see them here again. So far we have contacted 18 of the old players who have confirmed they will come along and play. We still have to contact a few players so if anyone knows the whereabouts of Kieran McSharry, Mark Hayton, Simon Hutton, Chris Cowling to name a few, please let us know.

All our sponsors are invited along, together with all the people who have worked to make the new building become a reality.

Two of our ex players who have gone on to greater things have also agreed to come along and help out; Tommy Lee, Chesterfield's goalkeeper and Dannielle Cox now at Doncaster Belles will both return to where their football careers first began.

Our current senior team will stage a Fancy Dress 6 a side tournament to raise funds for the chosen Charity, and will circulate among everyone for donations.

The Official Opening of the building will be at approx 1pm. We are honoured that many local Dignitaries including The Lord Mayor, Cllr Peter Hill and The Lady Mayoress, Mrs Gillian Hill, along with members of West Riding Football Association, representatives of The Football Foundation, and many senior members from local football will be present.

The final stages are taking shape to the new Club House which will be officially opened on Sunday 5th September.

The electrical work is in its final stages and workmen move onto site next week to complete the landscaping and final touches to the exterior.

Work has commenced on the fence around the Main Pitch, and the three quarter pitch will have smaller goals to accommodate the U/11 and U/12 teams.

Onced opened the buiding will be available to hire for other groups. A large club room with adjoining kitchen make it suitable for parties and functions. Details can be obtained from Club Secretary Richard Hewitt  01535 645959, or Marie Rowley  01535 600199.

Congratulations to the U/13 Wasps who clinched a share of their League Title on Sunday.

They will recieve their award at the League Presentation Evening at Victoria Hall next month.
